Welcome to Quiltish Corner!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Quiltish Corner. Thanks so much for joining me on this exciting journey. My daughter, Kate, has been encouraging (...nagging???) me for quite some time now that I should start a blog. She felt that I had enough information, skill and experience to offer about quilting and sewing to make your time spent at your sewing machine easier and more fun. I certainly hope you think she's right.

I've chosen the word “quiltish” in the blog title because not only will I be sharing all things quilty with you, but I may throw in some DIY and craft projects and other random things from time to time. Also, my nickname when I was a kid was “Ish” because my little sister, Barb, couldn't pronounce Sharon. It was by threat of death that at 14 years old I made my family stop calling me that. Mom didn't listen and every once in a long while “Ish” would pop out.

Sewing has been such a huge part of my life that I can't think of life without it. I started out sewing garments when I was about 10 years old and, aside from a few attempts in the 80's, I took up quilting with more passion in the early 90's. Garment sewing has been in the past for a long, long time now...beds and walls are much easier to fit than bodies...but, of course, family and friends come to me with their mending too. How many of you can relate to that?!

There will be something for everyone from true beginners to seasoned quilters. I will cover different techniques, tools, topics and tips from my almost 50 years of sewing (wow, I feel old) as well as current and past projects. My hope is to inspire your own talents and creativity and help you to master this incredible hobby one technique at a time. Feel free to offer up any ideas for future posts of things you would like to learn...I'm open to any suggestions from you. After all, you are the reason I am here in the first place.

The plan, at this point, is to post every second Wednesday with a few extras thrown in now and again until I get the hang of this new experience. Thanks again for taking time to visit Quiltish Corner. I hope to see you back again soon!
