Even More Cottage Stitching...
Are you tired of seeing these yet?! I was really on a roll at the cottage last time! After prepping 16 more Southern Aurora blocks and 6 half blocks before I went, I had more than enough to keep me busy while enjoying the beautiful weather. 12 of the 16 were completed while there with the remaining ones done while back home.
My daughter, Kate, and her partner, Nick, were able to join us at the last minute for a couple of days. She brought her cross-stitch project with her so, while catching up, we were like two little old ladies having a sewing bee out on the deck! The only unfortunate thing was that I lost 2 of my beautiful Tulip needles in between the deck boards…argh!
I am predominantly drawn to cool colours so I had to force myself to make more warm coloured blocks. In doing so I think I went overboard…more warm ones were made than cool. There are a couple of blocks I’m not particularly fond of so I may make a couple extra just to play with.
The background white/black prints are all prepped and units are stitched together, so now that the full blocks and half blocks (shown at right) are complete some papers can be removed and the layout begins! I know I’m going to second guess myself with that stage of the process, but balance is key. I’ll keep sharing my progress with all of you…stay tuned.
