"Cherish"...my new EPP project

Well, Instagram did it to me again! Do you ever get sucked down the rabbit hole of the incredible quilty ideas and visuals that is the best part of this social media tool? So many projects, so little time. I want to make everything that I’ve added to my “save” file, but I clearly won’t live that long!

The newest English paper Piecing (EPP) project to put me in its grasp is the Cherish Quilt by Tales of Cloth. I first encountered this pattern on Instagram under @jennscherishquilt where she used the most beautiful bright colours and, of course, used some wonderful focus fabrics that are highlighted in the centre hexagon of this great block.

I have to admit that I did not purchase this pattern as I already had the acrylic templates and papers for the majority of the block (from my Lilabelle Lane Creations kits) with the exception of the 2” hexagon in the centre. For this I purchased the papers and cut my own window template out of cardstock. For those of you who are not into EPP, the 2” measurement for the hexagon runs along one side of the hexie and not across the entire thing.

During our last trip the the cottage I was able to complete 4 of the 7 blocks you see here. The others I made on the previous trip there. We’re going again soon and in between clear staining the new shed and cleaning out the sleeping cabin, I have 4 more blocks cut and ready to be prepped and sewn. I also left my travel sewing machine there for summer sewing and have a set of placemats cut and ready to sew for our guild’s silent auction in the fall. That type of project is great for a rain day.

The only thing I don’t like about the projects I’ve been doing lately is the enormous mess in my sewing room. All that fussy cutting and mix of different fabrics means that I pull way too much out of my cupboard and it never goes back in as neatly as it was when it came out!
